The Group is run entirely by volunteers and offers the Award at Bronze and Silver levels.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award aims to provide for young people an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development, which is of the highest quality and the widest reach.
At each level the Award consists of four sections:
Physical - learning a new sport, eg rock climbing, dancing, squash, karate etc.
Volunteering - doing something for the community, eg volunteering in a charity shop, working on a conservation project, helping the fire brigade, or working in an old people’s home.
Skills - learning a new skill. This can be anything from playing a musical instrument, to archery, to learning another language.
Expedition - Planning, preparing and undertaking an expedition which is self-sufficient in rural/open country. Training and assessment will take place in such locations as the Purbecks, New Forest and the South Downs.
